Angiography of peripheral arteries: of neck and head, kidneys, aortic branches, arteries of the lower extremities

Angiography of arteries of the lower extremities is a minimally invasive technique of the study of anatomy and pathology of arteries of the lower extremities. Radial, brachial or femoral artery is used for the arterial access.

Indications for the procedure:

Iintermittent claudication when walking the distance over 200 meters (Fontaine stage IIb, and IIa in particular cases), rest pain in a lower extremity (Fontaine stage ІІІ), trophic ulcers or gangrenous changes in a lower extremity (Fontaine stage ІV), critical lower limb ischemia (chronic or acute) at the suspicion on an aneurysmal damage of an artery, thromboembolic disease, embolization, control after the revascularization, Buerger disease.

Indications for the procedure: data of the clinical picture, of the echocardiographic examination of coronary vessels.

How the procedure is performed

The procedure provides for the minimally invasive endovascular, diagnostic intervention performed in an operating room, under local anesthesia and intravenous anesthesia (if needed), by a surgical team (surgeon, surgical nurse) to diagnose the arterial involvement of various localizations. A surgeon performs the puncture of the radial artery or the common femoral artery transcutaneously with a hydrophilic conductor with the diameter of 0.035’’ introducing a diagnostic catheter into the target artery. A surgeon performs the selective angiography of the target arterial basin using a catheter. The examination is performed under the control of radioscopy and X-ray radiography in various projections. After the examination, the surgical instruments are removed, and the hemostasis of the vascular access is performed.

Limit the food intake 4 hours before the surgical intervention.

Service duration: 30 to 40 minutes. Stay in the hospital: 4 hours.

A patient should have the results of the following laboratory and instrumental diagnostic tests before he/she undergoes the surgical intervention:

  • blood type and Rh factor
  • clinical blood test
  • clinical urine test
  • blood glucose
  • total bilirubin, ALT, AST
  • creatinine, urea
  • coagulogram, lipid panel
  • ECG, ultrasound examination of the vessels of the lower extremities.

Special aspects of service provision

Contraindications for the procedure: absolute – allergic reactions to contrast agents, active infectious process.

Appointment for the surgical intervention is carried out only after a check-up by a specialist cardiac surgeon of Dobrobut clinic chain.

The procedure has no age restrictions.
